Our philosophy at Merit has always been simple... better cows make better bulls. Our mission has always been to consistently produce the best seedstock for our environment.  The Merit program is just that... a program. It is not built around the flavour of the month. More progress is made by not making costly mistakes than chasing the latest fad in search of one home run. The middle of the road keeps you on a path with purpose and you only have to move over to keep from getting hit .Moving forward is progress.

Our environment in southern Saskatchewan is one of extremes, with little to no natural protection from the elements. Our cattle have to be able to function and be productive in this environment. Fleshing ability, depth, foot structure, udder quality, hair and eye appeal are extremely important traits to us and these traits come first and foremost before the numbers and data. Good paper work and numbers are important also, we strive for balance in these areas as well...no extremes. Raising seedstock is our passion and commitment.
